Mommy cries in the kitchen

Eleven oh five

And Daddy’s not home

Again

And all those photos of us smiling

They’re all lying

Daddy’s lying

Take me back to, take me back to

Remember when

Please

Pretty, pretty please

Take my broken family

Take my broken friends

Take my broken heart

And make us whole again

Can you, can you save the world

Because mine needs saving

Mine needs saving

Pretty, pretty, pretty please

Girl I have known all my life

Down the street

Yet to cross the road

Will she?

Kindergarten was so easy

Friends forever, anti-cooties

Hold my hand, hold my hand

Keep me steady

Please

Pretty, pretty please

Take my broken family

Take my broken friends

Take my broken heart

And make us whole again

Can you, can you save the world

Because mine needs saving

Mine needs saving

Pretty, pretty, pretty please

Staring down the barrel

Staring in the neck of the bottle

Feel the power of full throttle

Down the freeway

Down the freeway

Broken glass and broken people

Sad processions beneath the steeple

Does it ever stop

Pretty, pretty please

Please save me

Please save my world

[ pretty please ]

Friday night started like this

Then we’re wondering what we’ve done

Saturday morning I’m staring at the sun

You think that I’m crazy

I’m thinking that you’re not

But tell me one thing I was right about?

It’s finding all the right words

Then forgetting them tomorrow

It’s learning to return what you borrow

Did you ever imagine?

That the motor mouths could be silent

That some things just can’t happen

That we could force ourselves

To pretend, forget, and ignore

Only to come back down and bruised

Pledging just one more

Just one more- again

Did you ever imagine?

I think I just saw an angel, you?

Right there standing under the streetlight

Gotta quit thinking what might

Maybe we just need to learn to breathe

And let ourselves walk the next mile

But hey, it’s going to take a while

It’s keeping the balance

Maybe learn to see a little gray

Say what I mean and mean what I say?

Did you ever imagine?

That the motor mouths could be silent

That some things just can’t happen

That we could force ourselves

To pretend, forget, and ignore

Only to come back down and bruised

Pledging just one more

Just one more- again

Did you ever imagine?

He falls in love with the daughter

The daughter of Jupiter

He dreams of a day

When they could be together

He’s carrying, still carrying on

Following the song

He’s walking the edge, walking

And wondering

Where in this picture does he belong?

Damn but he can feel it

Girl from the stars

Do you know where he is?

Girl from the stars

Do you know he exists?

Well the wheel are turning

And they’re still learning

What do you make of this?

He forgets to breathe, to breathe

C’est la vie

He’s blind, and he knows it, and

Oh how he wishes she could see

He pretends to be her best friend

And she doesn’t know better

How he’s falling, he’s falling

He loves her

Girl from the stars

Oh, girl from the stars

Girl from the stars

Do you know where he is?

Girl from the stars

Do you know he exists?

Well the wheel are turning

And they’re still learning

What do you make of this?

He fell…

In love with the daughter

The daughter

Of Jupiter

Author's Note:

Done for today. Post more later... got SO much more to archive.

It’s only blackbirds singing

In my solitary (my solitary)

And in this corner of the world

It’s only me, only me

In ripped jeans, watching subway cars

As the passengers wave to her

Only takes one wave, one smile

To change things from what they were

She imagines in Technicolor

But what if her heart’s still concrete

And whatever happened to her dreams

Ain’t life bittersweet?

Ain’t life bittersweet?

Her heart loves in music

And it’s never too loud

She looks to the stars

And catches a cloud

In her abandoned garden, looking left and right

Never noticed the walls, the cement

And when she finally sees the gray

She wonders where the flowers went

Bring me to paradise

With tin stars and barbed wire

Jumping rope, jumping cliff

Can you take me even higher?

Because lilies are genuine

Yellow taxis are real

And stitches and wounds

They all have to heal

Someday

Somehow

She imagines in Technicolor

But what if her heart’s still concrete

And whatever happened to her dreams

Ain’t life bittersweet?

Ain’t life bittersweet?

Her heart loves in music

And it’s never too loud

She looks to the stars

And catches a cloud

It’s only blackbirds singing

In my solitary (my solitary)

And in this corner of the world

It’s only me, only me
